Important Notice

January 20 2010

The Local Planning Committee for the upcoming 4th MCCA Youth Encuentro wishes to advise District Presidents, Circuit Superintendent Ministers, Youth Lay Workers and Participants that the FINAL date for submission of lists of participants and the first and second down payments is now February 15th 2010. No additional participants will be registered after that date.

The final payment must be submitted by March 30th 2010.

All participants and chaperones must submit a passport-sized photograph with your registration form as participants will be issued with picture identification badges.

All completed registration forms, including the medical forms must be sent, through your Church office no later than March 15th 2010. The forms must be signed by the Superintendent Minister

About Youth Encuentro

MCCA Youth Encuentro is an exciting, spirit-filled, educational experience for our young people as they prepare themselves for leadership in the Methodist Church and the societies in which they live.

The 4th Youth Encuentro which will be hosted by the South Caribbean District, July 25th – August 2 2010, under the theme, “Looking Up, Reaching Out: Freed in Christ for Mission and Service”.

Who Should Attend

A warm invitation is extended to the young people of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas, ages 15-25 to the 4th Youth Encuentro.

Looking Up, Reaching Out: Freed in Christ for Mission and Service”.

Objectives

The objectives for the Encuentro have been outlined as follows:

  1. To assist young people to discover who they are in Christ
  2. To enable young people to actively participate in the mission of the Methodist Church
  3. To increase awareness and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the heritage of the Methodist Church
  4. To assist young people to respond to the challenges of the age
  5. To enable young people to use modern technology in the witness of the church
  6. To encourage young people to express their faith through their God-given gifts and talents

Venue and Registration Fee

The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago will be the venue for the 2010 gathering and the Registration Fee per person is US$650.00.

An unsubsidized registration fee of US$1,200.00 is proposed for the participants from the partner churches in the metropole.

Timeline for Payments

We are asking that districts/circuits adhere strictly to the timeline for payment which would assist you in meeting the costs, as well as facilitate the smooth management of the event at the level of the local organizing committee.

June 15 2009               First Payment            US$150.00
(inclusive of $100 non-refundable deposit)

October 15 2009         Second Payment         US$250.00

March 15 2010            Final Payment             US$250.00
